My research lab is focused at synthesizing novel small molecules derived from natural products. Specifically, we are interested in synthesizing fatty acids and curcuminoids derivatives because these compounds have shown interesting antimicrobial and anticancer properties. In order to investigate the activity and potency of these compounds, I am employing diverse and modern cellular and biochemical assays, with a particular emphasis in the inhibition of microbial DNA topoisomerases and ATPases.
