Dr. Yogani Govender

Catedrática Asociada del Departamento de Ciencias Naturales

Dr. Yogani Govender has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras Campus. Her work addresses institutional, faculty, student and community needs by successfully obtaining external funds for development of infrastructure and education programs. Known for her collaborative approach, Dr. Govender actively engages with a wide network of stakeholders, including environmental organizations, policymakers, and local communities, to promote sustainable conservation practices on biodiversity, climate change, and the management of protected natural areas that drive innovative solutions for safeguarding the planet’s natural resources. She currently is the director of a Thriving Community Technical Assistance Center for Environmental and Energy Justice, to Engage and Assist Grassroot organizations in Leadership and Capacity building for Environmental and Energy Justice (EAGLE) impacting organizations in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, New York and New Jersey. She is the recipient of the STEM 2021 Mujeres Que Nos Hacen Llegar Más Lejos Award by Donativos FORD foundation.
