Bienvenidos al Departamento de Educación

Todo estudiante que aspire a certificarse para ejercer funciones de personal docente en Puerto Rico deberá reunir y acreditar los siguientes requisitos generales establecidos en el Reglamento de Certificación del Personal Docente de Puerto Rico (https://www.de.pr.gov/soy-maestro/certificacion-de-maestros/reglamento-de-certificacion-del-personal-docente/), creado al amparo de la Ley Núm. 94 de 21 de junio de 1955, según enmendada y conocida como Ley para regular la Certificación de Maestros.

Tener dieciocho (18) años de edad o más;
Tener un índice académico general y de concentración de, al menos, 3.00;
Los estudiantes una vez están en su último año de estudio (90 créditos o más aprobados) pueden solicitar la Prueba de Certificación de Maestros (PCMAS) por medio de la persona designada en el Recinto quien canalizará la autorización para tomar la prueba que ofrece el College Board.
Una vez el estudiante aprueba la PCMAS y se otorga el grado académico será elegible para solicitar la licencia oficial al Departamento de Educación de PR.
Es importante señalar que el estudiante tiene hasta cinco años después de aprobar la PCMAS para certificarse en el DEPR. Si no lo hace en ese tiempo, la prueba caduca y debe tomar la misma nuevamente.

All students who aspire to be certified to exercise teaching staff functions in Puerto Rico must meet and accredit the following general requirements established in the Puerto Rico Teaching Staff Certification Regulations (https://www.de.pr.gov/soy- teacher/teacher-certification/teaching-personnel-certification-regulation/), created under Act No. 94 of June 21, 1955, as amended and known as the Act to Regulate Teacher Certification.

Be eighteen (18) years of age or older;
Have a general academic and concentration index of at least 3.00;
Once students are in their last year of study (approved 90 credits or more) they can request the Teacher Certification Test (PCMAS) through the designated person at the Campus who will channel authorization to take the test offered by the College. Board.
Once the student passes the PCMAS and the academic degree is granted, she will be eligible to request the official license from the Department of Education of PR.
It is important to note that the student has up to five years after passing the PCMAS to become certified in the DEPR. If you do not do so within that time, the test expires and you must take the test again.
